Rats in the Garage Before a Family Reunion

AThis past summer we got a call from a homeowner in Hood River who was getting ready for a family reunion. While pulling chairs, barbecue equipment, and other things out of the garage, they realized rats had been living in the space.

There were droppings in the corners, signs of chewing around stored items, and clear activity around the areas where things had been sitting undisturbed. It was not something they wanted to deal with right before having family over.

Garages are a common place for rodent problems, especially in the warmer months when there is clutter, cover, and easy access in and out. In this case, we were able to get in, solve the problem, and help them get the garage cleaned up and usable again before everyone arrived.

These are the kinds of situations we see all the time in Hood River. A space can look fine at first glance, but once things start getting moved around, the signs are hard to miss.
